Welcome to the Campus Ministry!
Thirst Quenched
By Sarah Loya

...But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.  John 4: 14

It has been a fruitful time in the East Region Campus Ministry, capped off by an amazing retreat entitled "Thirst".  Over 380 campus students from all over Los Angeles congregated in San Diego last week for the fall campus retreat.  It was there that Tim Cumbo, a junior from Cal Poly Pomona, made his decision to make Jesus his Lord and be baptized.  Tim, roommate of fellow disciple Greg Vierkant (Cal Poly), had been invited to church for some time by Greg.  He began attending church in September and studied the Bible soon after.  Impacted by the studies and a powerful retreat weekend, Tim made his decision to be baptized late Saturday amongst over a hundred brothers and sisters still in dressed up from the costume party that night.  Tim's conversion has been a powerful demonstration of God's power, and already two of his friends at Cal Poly have begun to study the Bible this week.  It is amazing when someone discovers God's mission for his life!

Angels rejoice at the start of a new life in the kingdom. They celebrate with the Lord in the victory of a soul being saved. On August 4th 2007 they had another celebration. 21 year old Aljay Marshall Davis was baptized by his best friend from childhood Onil Eliab Jimenez in the University of La Verne fountain.

A New Creation
By Sarah Loya

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come."

On August 1, 2007 Jael Esquivel, a friend of mine (DeVry University), made the decision to become a disciple. She had great eagerness and knew that she needed to get her life right with God. She was baptized within two to three weeks of beginning to study the Bible. She has an amazing heart for God and is full of humility. Jael is currently attending DeVry University and majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, which she will be receiving June 2008. She has been married for two years to husband Edward Esquivel (DeVry University) and has a baby, Alexus Esquivel who is 18 months. I met Jael about a year ago and developed a friendship with her, little did I know that she had been praying for a church to help her and for God to show her what He wanted for her life and where she needed to be. God was already working to guide her to there. She has been a blessing in my life; I had been praying to baptize a girl at DeVry, someone to be my partner and to become my best friend. God has answered both of our prayers. Currently there are three of us attending DeVry University:  me, Jael, and my boyfriend Marco, and we plan on growing even more!
